‘Illinois university overturns professor’s anti-Christian stance’

From One News Now:

Officials at Southern Illinois University have apparently compelled a social work professor to grade a Christian student’s final research paper after she had refused to grade it for four months.

The article continues, “For a research project assigned in her social work class, SIU graduate student Christine Mize had asked to include a faith-based recovery program in the project. Dr. Laura Dreuth-Zeman, her professor, told Mize that if she included such a section in her paper she would lower Mize’s grade.”

From one News Now:

Concerned Women for America is blasting an Illinois high school for urging students not to tell their parents about its mandatory homosexual indoctrination program. Deerfield High School in Chicago has a class called “Freshman Advisory,” in which ninth-graders are required to attend a panel discussion led by the Gay-Straight Alliance Network. The article goes on to state, “This year, students were required to sign a confidentiality agreement saying they would not tell anyone about the discussions, including their parents.” Whatever our views on homosexual behavior might be, surely we all recognize the devious nature of these activities and do not condone them. Anyone who would condone them shows a complete lack of moral character.

The students, who were not allowed to meet for prayer in a private room, instead gathered before school in the cafeteria to pray; however, they were reported by a student who claims to be a Satanist.

The school’s vice principal then told the Christian students they could not pray in the cafeteria and would have to go outside. The Christian students refused and were suspended, some for three days and others for ten days. Staver says the students’ constitutional rights were violated.

And for another assault on religious rights…

Former Navy chaplain Lieutenant Gordon James Klingenschmitt says he will now have to fight as a civilian for his reinstatement after a federal judge lifted a restraining order that had temporarily blocked his removal from the service. The evangelical pastor feels he won his battle with the Navy over a policy that barred him from praying publicly in Jesus’ name while in uniform, but the fight has apparently cost him his military career.
