CNN’s ‘God’s Warriors’ Laughable

I’ve had a chance to watch about half of CNN’s rather laughable special titled, “God’s Warriors.” I have the other half in a hold pattern on my DVR, waiting for an opportune time. Inasmuch as the title itself is completely misleading, the first thing that should be pointed out is what the special is really about. In essence, it seems the goal of CNN was to create a 3-part series, whereby they could lump both Judaism and Christianity in with Islam. It is, in reality, nothing more than a propaganda piece not aimed at God’s Warriors, but at guilt by association. After all, Christians and Jews both believe in God, so they must be violent terrorists as well.

The charge of lumping in Christianity and Judaism with Islam was actually asked of Christiane Amanpour – she responded rather benignly, “We’re not comparing. We’re showing that each faith has their committed and fervent believers, and we’re showing how each of those are active in the political sphere in today’s world.” (see here) It is a rather silly approach to a documentary that is aiming to be taken seriously. Amanpour may as well have indicted all little league dads for fervently supporting their sons, even though there are some little league dads who have taken that fervor too far. Of course, this type of reporting is what we have become accustomed to from CNN.

I will reserve any further judgment until I have seen the remainder of the series. Until then, you can check out a good review by Joe Carter with the National Review – Click Here.

I did watch the series and was not impressed. It was more of a filler program then anything new being presented.
